What Groggy Roads knows about you

1. Who this covers

This policy covers the Groggy Roads website (this site), the browser version of the game, and the Groggy Roads apps for Android and iOS. It applies to everyone who plays, whichever way they play.

2. What stays on your device

The game remembers a few things so you do not have to start from scratch every time:

• your best score and your current stash;
• which regulars you have unlocked and which one you last picked;
• whether sound is muted and whether you have seen the tutorial.

In the browser, this lives in your browser’s local storage. In the apps, it lives in the app’s own storage on the device. It is never sent to us or to anyone else. It is not linked to you as a person. Clearing your browser data, or uninstalling the app, deletes it.

3. No accounts, no personal information

There is nothing to sign up for. We do not ask for a name, an email address, a date of birth, a location, or anything else that identifies you, and we do not collect it. The website has no analytics, no tracking pixels and no cookies of its own.

If you email us, we will have whatever you chose to put in the email. We use it to reply and for nothing else.

4. Ads in the Android and iOS apps

The mobile apps show ads through Google AdMob. The browser version of the game does not show ads.

To serve and measure ads, AdMob (operated by Google) may collect information from your device, including:

• your device’s advertising identifier (for example the Android Advertising ID or Apple’s IDFA, where you have allowed it);
• technical details such as device model, operating system, language, app version and approximate location derived from your IP address;
• how you interact with ads (views, clicks, and similar events).

Google collects and uses this data under its own policies, not ours. You can read how Google uses information from apps that use its services, and how advertising works, at policies.google.com/technologies/ads. We do not receive any of this data in a form that identifies you; we see aggregate reporting only.

5. Opting out of personalised ads

You can limit personalised advertising from your device settings at any time. The ads do not stop, but they stop being tailored to you:

• Android: Settings → Google → Ads (or Settings → Privacy → Ads) → “Delete advertising ID” or “Opt out of Ads Personalisation”.
• iOS: Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking, and turn off “Allow Apps to Request to Track”; and Settings → Privacy & Security → Apple Advertising → turn off “Personalised Ads”.

The exact wording moves around between OS versions. Search your device settings for “advertising” if the path above does not match.

6. Consent in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland

If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, the app asks for your consent before any personalised ads are shown, using a consent prompt on first launch. You can decline, choose non-personalised ads, or change your mind later with the Privacy options button on the app’s title screen (shown where this applies) or by reinstalling it. Declining does not lock any part of the game.

7. Children

Groggy Roads is a parody for adults. It contains cartoon depictions of alcohol and drugs and is rated for players aged 18 and over. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you believe a child has used the apps and that data was collected through the ad network, contact us and we will help you get it removed through Google.

8. Third parties

Apart from Google AdMob in the mobile apps, the game talks to no third-party services. This website loads its two typefaces from Google Fonts, which means Google’s servers see the standard request your browser makes for those font files (your IP address and browser details). Nothing else leaves the page.

When the Android beta ships, its APK will be hosted on GitHub, and downloading it will be subject to GitHub’s privacy statement.

9. Your rights

Because we hold nothing about you, there is nothing for us to export, correct or delete on request; everything the game stores is on your device, under your control. For data held by Google through AdMob, use the device controls above or Google’s own privacy tools. If you think we have something of yours anyway, email us and we will look.

10. Changes

If the way the game handles data changes, this page changes with it and the effective date at the top moves. We will not quietly start collecting things.
